For our recovery guests, we’ll share with you throughout the program a range of tools and techniques with which you can prepare yourself and your family to cope with triggers and continue your recovery upon your return home.
We integrate this activity throughout the program. Your therapist will begin by helping you to identify your main goals. Then you’ll have a supportive opportunity to more deeply explore beneficial patterns and attitudes. As well, we’ll introduce practical daily activities to strengthen and maintain your mental, social and spiritual health in your journey of new beginnings. In this work you’ll be coached to identify the three key aspects: mind, body and feelings.
With these insights you can better understand your personal “warning signs” to prevent falling back into addictive behaviours, by asking the question “How might a relapse start for me?” and then developing your own toolkit of healthy responses, with help from your therapist. Finally, your therapist will assist you to develop a detailed, personalized Life Management Plan Schedule, at a daily, weekly and monthly level. With this in hand, we believe you’ll be in the best possible position for success in creating a new lifestyle once you return to the community.
For our recovery guests, in the month immediately following your time with us, we will provide 6 hours of online support. The goal is to assist you in following through with your Life Management Plan Schedule. We will help you identify your most triggering moments and explore alternative behaviours that you can choose.
We will help you identify warning signs such as places, objects and people that trigger you. We will review your daily commitment calendar to understand what works and what doesn’t. And we’ll develop new strategies to assist in your journey of recovery. Of course, we’ll celebrate your successes!
During this time, we invite you together with your partner (if appropriate) to share in a two-hour solutions-focused therapy session. In it we will explore the most challenging times in your couple to help you both view your relationship with a single lens.
